James Wong de retour

James Wong is returning to X-Files territory. He's not heading back to the franchise, per se, but he is taking on a new endeavor that is certainly going to emulate the X-Files formula. The director of Final Destination is going to write Occult for producer Michael Bay, says Deadline. The project is a potential new series should A&E take it out beyond a pilot order.

According to the site, the show "centers on a FBI agent who returns from administrative leave after going off the deep end while investigating his wife’s disappearance. Eager to be back on the job, he is paired with an agent with her own complicated backstory who specializes in the occult. Together, they will solve cases for the newly formed occult crimes task force."

Wong was a writer on season one of American Horror Story; for the show's sophomore run, he's acting as a producer. He also scripted a number of episodes of The X-Files and Millennium.
